When a substance changes from pH 7 to pH 8, it has become 10 x more alkaline. In a similar manner if it changes from neutral pH 7 to pH 6, it is 10 times more acidic.
Your own blood become poisonous for you if it contains more acid e.g. normal level change from 7.365 to pH 7 increases the acid around 4 times and you would even die from that.
Conversely, if it has changes from neutral pH 7 to pH 6, it is 10 times more acidic.
As an example, a popular Coke, at pH 2.5 is almost 50,000 times more acidic than neutral water, and needs 30 glasses of neutral (pH 7) water to counteract the ingestion of one glass of Coke. (Active Ingredient: Phosphoric Acid)

Toxicity is becoming something we need to deal with NOW as it really is starting to affect how our bodies function.
